In the wake of ISIS, the number of orphans and female headed households in Iraq has increased dramatically. During the winter of 2015 GardaWorld supported The Rise Foundation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq with much needed funding for their Winter Campaign. The campaign identified hundreds of cases of vulnerable orphans and female headed households in need of critical winter support. These are groups and individuals that receive little or no aid from other organizations and are taking shelter in rudimentary conditions, often in remote areas.

The Rise Foundation raised money to purchase basic support packages that provided targeted assistance for their beneficiaries. The packs included:
• Family food ration - $36
• Winter jackets - $15
• Blankets - $16
• Family hygiene kit - $22

The team also tailored packs to specific needs to include: diapers, insulation materials, feminine sanitary items, female underwear, food storage, recreational equipment or mattresses.

The Rise Foundation is a small, flexible non-governmental organization providing targeted support to refugees and Internally Displaced People in the Kurdish Region.
